The War Memorial at Forcett is the lych gate leading from the roadside to the path to the church door.
The road is the B6274 Richmond to Winston road which is fairly busy as a rural road so holding the Act of Remembrance there in recent years has proved a little dangerous and difficult.
The names of those from the parish who fell in the the Great War 1914 - 18 are recorded on the right hand plaque, the dedication id on the left hand side and reads:
TO
THE MEMORY
OF THE MEN
FROM THIS PARISH
WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES
FOR KING AND COUNTRY
IN THE
GREAT WAR
1914 - 1918
The names listed are those of:
Lieut William Jameson
Pte William Banks
Pte George Clement
Pte Harry Coates
Pte Richard Etherington
Pte George Jameson
Pte Fred Lever
Pte Aaron Parkin
Pte Roland Swann
No names are recorded for Forcett for the 1939 - 1945 World War II.
We trust that this means that no lives from the parish were lost in that conflict.
