Bell Ringing Interest

There is now an active ringing band at Melsonby meeting on Tuesday evenings from 6.30 to 8.30pm. New members would be welcome, either experienced or wanting to learn. It's a great activity for teenagers as they take to it relatively quickly as it needs a certain mental agility that slows down as people get older. (Many universities have very active bell-ringing societies some of which ring to a very high standard.) You do not need to be strong but you need to be fairly fit and active as access to both four bell towers in our benefice is via fairly difficult spiral staircases.

The ringing at Melsonby is under the instruction of Rob Kirby.

Although you are encouraged to participate in church services and activities as a member of the ringing band, that is not normally a requirement. It is not unusual for ringers to leave rather than stay for the service once ringing has finished.

Please complete the form below if you are interested in ringing either as a learner or an experienced ringer.
