Aldbrough's Quinquennial Inspection

St Paul's,Aldbrough St John

The Church of England requires its church buildings to be checked by an architect or surveyor every five years to identify any problems that need rectification, if possible at an early stage so they can be dealt with before major damage is done.

Aldbrough's was carried out on 21 April by Sebaastian Rowe from Leeds who has carried this out on several previous occasions. On the whole the building got a clean bill of health though a few small items were identified - some of the flashing needed attention and weeds were observed growing in parts of the guttering that is difficult to access.

The recommendations also set a timescale within which the various items will require attention so that any expenditure can be planned for whenever possible.

It was good to see that the general condition of the church was described as "...well built and lovingly maintained."
