If you have visited the playground on Aldbrough village green you will undoubtedly have noticed that it is looking somewhat the worse for wear. It is now over twenty year's old and is lacking in interesting and exciting play especially for the very young children.
A group of residents, mainly with young children of their own, have started a project to get it replaced but need funds they have already raised to help them apply for other grants etc..
The Marske Choir from Swaledale supported by Pellingmans' Saraband, a duo of Jacob Heringman and Susanna Pell are giving a concert in Aldbrough church on Saturday, 7 October at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 from Sophie Montgomery of the Stanwick Inn in Aldbrough and include refreshments afterwards in the village hall.
Jacob Heringman is one of the world's top lutenists and Susanna Pell is similarly a viol player. These are both musical instruments that largely went out of fashion in the mid-eighteenth century but have bee revived in the past 50 years thus giving lots of really beautiful old music a new lease of life.
The programme for this concert covers music from the time of the first Queen Elizabeth through to the twenty first century and will provide a really excellent evening's entertainment.
