Bell Ringing Interest

A few people in our villages have expressed an interest in learning to ring. This is an activity that can be begun at any age, though teenagers take it up particularly quickly. You do not need to be strong but you need to be fairly fit and active as access to both four bell towers in our benefice are via fairly difficult spiral staircases.

You may need to start in another tower with a currently active band in order to develop a level of competence before ringing in our own towers at Melsonby and East Layton.

Although you are encouraged to participate in church services and activities as a member of the ringing band, that is not normally a requirement. It is not unusual for ringers to leave rather than stay for the service once ringing has finished.

Please complete the form below if you are interested in ringing either as a learner or an experienced ringer.
